Harps 4-7 Enniskillen Gaels 3-1.

This was a good contest, and it took a great effort in the final third of the game to finally get the Harps into a winning position. The Gaels got off to a great start  with an Erin Tierney goal from play after a spell when the Harps took a while to settle into the game and appeared to be showing some final nerves. The game ebbed and flowed before the Harps got off the mark with a goal from Caitlin Duffy from the rebound after her initial shot from a penalty was well saved by Gaels Keeper Naoise Whitley .

The Gaels then scored from a penalty themselves which was  firmly despatched to the roof of the net by Erin Tierney after the same player had been fouled .The Harps came close on a few occasions to adding to their total  after  strong running by Emily Cassidy and  Aoibheann Jones  but had to settle for  a point from a Caitlin Duffy free  to leave HT score of 1-1 to 2-0.

The young Harpettes upped the pace of their game in the second half with a score from play by Bronagh Smyth , a goal from Caitlin Duffy and point from Shauna Elliott. The Gaels continued  to press forward with the industrious Orla Murphy a constant threat from midfield. Further scores came from Bronagh Smyth from a very acute angle after being set up by corner forward  Stephanie Jones, and crucially a goal from a long distance  free from midfielder Jones which dropped just under the bar .The Gaels had a number of strong attacks  and  Harps keeper Aifie Campbell had to be  in fine form to save a  number of Gaels shots before  Enniskillen did break through for their third  goal .However  late scores from Shauna Elliott ,Caitlin  Duffy , wing half forward Reika Robson and wing back Niamh Duffy saw the Harps secure victory in what was a very sporting and competitive encounter sensibly referred by Owenie McCarney .

The Harps victory was built on a solid performance at the back in which player of the match Ciara Leonard at full-back  , and corner backs Roisin Hehir and  Natasha Cox  were not found wanting .Ciara Woods was extremely effective at centre back and  Tara McAloon and Niamh Duffy worked very hard to deal with the Gaels attacks and set up counterattacks from half back  whilst the Harps midfield of Derbhla Duffy and Aoibheann Jones covered every inch of the Tempo pitch .

The Gaels team  battled away to the final with goalie Whitley and full back Naomi McHugh, in addition to Murphy and Tierney  being particularly assured .

This was a good team performance by the Harps .Well done to the  entire squad of girls and their coaches Frances Hoy, Martin Duffy and Brian Leonard. Everyone has put in a big effort over a long period of time, and it is great to see the work by everyone involved being rewarded!
