Harps Notes 4th Dec 2017

posted 4 Dec 2017, 03:03 by Derrygonnelly Harps

The Lotto jackpot, now £3200, was not won on Sunday night. The numbers drawn were 6, 16, 24 and 26. £20 each went to Charlie Jones, Boho, Bronagh Smyth, Derrygonnelly and C Manley, c/o Doogies. We are in Boho this Sunday, with Peter and Gerry plus Mary Cox on Lotto duty.

Our club's AGM takes place this Thursday night at 7pm in the clubrooms. The meeting will hear a number of end of year reports on our key club areas from officers. As we hear those, we will discuss ideas and plans for 2017. We hope that as many club members as possible will consider attending the meeting, playing and non-playing members. It is not a meeting at which unsuspecting innocents end up whacked into positions of responsibility, but rather a chance for all members to get an insight into the club's operations and see if they might be able to have an input. All members are very welcome. We start at 7pm and will finish promptly as well by 9.30pm.

Our Health & Wellbeing committee travelled to Derry last Friday for the annual Ulster GAA President's Awards ceremony in the City Hotel in Derry and we are delighted to have  won the Ulster GAA Community Health and Wellbeing award. As a club, we have been leading the way with our diverse and enriching Health and Wellbeing programme over the past three years and it's great to be recognised for this at Ulster level. A word of thanks to Hugh, Michelle, Jacqui, Mark, Eadaoin and John for all their hard work in this area of club activity.

On Saturday night, we were back celebrating the efforts of our teams as we held our Youth Presentation night in the clubrooms. This proved to be a really good event, and it was fantastic to see upwards of two hundred people in our clubrooms. We had presentations of medals to those teams who were victorious in their events, and we presented all young players who played for the Harps in 2017 with momentos of the year. We had the honour of four special guests in attendance in Eimear Smyth, Peter Harte, Michael Jones and Kevin Cassidy. Thank you very much to everyone who put the work in to organise the event, or contributed on the night in terms of sound, interviews, photos, refreshments etc. Another big job, but well completed.

Finally, for the long term planners among us, the club's dinner dance is booked for Saturday night, February 17th. Another big event for the Harps members to look forward to.
