Harps Notes 24th June 2019

posted 24 Jun 2019, 02:56 by Derrygonnelly Harps

The Harps Lotto jackpot, now £7900, was not won on Sunday night. The numbers were 3, 7, 12 and 18. £20 each went to Devon Casey, Boho, Scollan Family, Boho and Jimmy Leonard, Mullaghdun. We are in Doogies this Sunday night, with Donal, Gerard and Mary on the controls.

Our Senior teams’ match against Teemore has been refixed for 5.30pm this Saturday evening, with the Erne Cup tie between the same teams immediately afterwards at 7pm. Our juniors had two good wins last week, against Erne Gaels and Belcoo. our thirds are at home against Brookboro this evening, and away to Newtown on Sunday morning.

We had a fantastic day at Canon Maguire as our annual Under 10 tournament concluded with our Go Games Blitz morning, then the tournament final itself. We had almost 350 boys and girls on our pitches, playing games in perfect conditions, which is the number one aim of the whole event. Congratulations to the Kinawley players and their coaches on a fine performance in the final to receive the Gerald Cox Memorial trophy again, and hard luck to our own group who have put in a great effort over the past few months. Thank you to Dominic Corrigan, Darren Magee, Donal Cox and Kevin McGrath for all of their work so far this season, and no doubt the group will have a number of blitz outings before the end of the year. Dominic was doubly on duty on Saturday as he has also co-ordinated the entire tournament plus put the practical arrangements in place for Saturday. He obviously did a brilliant job. Thank you also to everyone who helped out on the day: those who set up the pitches, Under 8 coaches Ruairi Dundas and Paul Ward, referees, pitch co-ordinators, catering team, car park stewards and anyone else.  Thank you also to Smyth Leslie & Co for their generous support of this event.

In the mass of activity recently we omitted to acknowledge the fine performances of both St Patricks and Killyhommon PS in winning their Allianz Cumann na Mbunscol competitions recently. Thank you to these schools and their coaches for their time and interest in the teams, and all credit to the Fermanagh Cumann na mBunscol committee who organise the divisonal events and finals day.

Our Under 8s also had a fantastic day at Enniskillen Gaels blitz event at Brewster Park on June 15th, and thank you very much to the Gaels for the invite. Games are the way to go.

Our Under 15s fine season came to an end last week as well when they lost out narrowly to Lisnaskea in the championship. This was a good competitive tie, and we were in the hunt right until the final minute. They represented us really well in every respect during that game, which is important, and can reflect on a great season with a lot of fine performances. Thank you very much to Dermot Burns, John Duffy and Donal Duffy for their work for the last five months with the lads.

Our Under 14 girls had a good week last week, with two wins over Tempo and Enniskillen Gaels. They have one last league game against Enniskillen Gaels this Saturday afternoon. Our Senior ladies have an away tie this evening in Belleek, then a home tie against Belnaleck on Saturday evening. We are starting with some coaching sessions for girls in the current Primary 4, 5 and 6 classes this Thursday evening from 6.15 to 7.15. Thursday evening also sees our Gaelic for Mothers and Others every week at 7.45.
