Harps Notes 24th July 2017

posted 27 Jul 2017, 12:46 by Derrygonnelly Harps

The Lotto jackpot, now £9400, was not won on Sunday night. The numbers were 8, 10, 15 & 23. £20 each went to June Duffy, Derrygonnelly and Seamus Greenan, Garrison who came out twice! We are in Doogies this Sunday night, with Mary, Donal Corrigan and Gerard Maguire on duty.

Last Saturday was a busy one for our Underage section, with our Under 8s enjoying a great series of Go Games up at sunny Lissan in  the morning, followed by our Under 12s playing against Enniskillen Gaels in the first sectional match, the large Harps panel emerging with the result. That evening, we were back in Brewster Park as our Minors faced Enniskillen Gaels in the championship final. Unfortunately, we were well beaten in this match. Congratulations to the Gaels. They are strong enough to take a result or two in the St Pauls Ulster Club. Commiserations to our lads, they have worked hard all year, and a lot of them have two full years at Minor still to play. Thank you also to our managers, Peter, Paul and Eoghan. Minor managers have a long season to put together and maintain and the three of them certainly gave it everything.

We are back in Lissan this Saturday, with both our Under 10 and Under 8 squads heading for some Go Games. There will be a bus leaving Derrygonnelly at 9.30, returning at approximately 1pm. Under 10s who are attending, please make contact with Brendy or Francy, Under 8s who are travelling, make contact with Niall or Dom please. It is important that we know who is travelling, as we can enter teams accordingly.

Under 12 training continues this Thursday night at 6.30pm. This is for children from last year's P6 upwards. The third Under 12 game is away to Lisnaskea Emmetts next Tuesday evening.

In terms of fixtures, our seniors host Erne Gaels this Friday evening. our Reserve teams are hosting the Gaels, and travelling to Belcoo on Saturday evening. Our Under 16s are at home to Teemore this Thursday evening. our seniors had a good win against Ederney St Josephs on Sunday. Our Senior Ladies had a high scoring win against Ederney last week as well.

The most recent order of Harps kit has arrived. It will be available for collection on Wednesday evening from 7 - 8.30pm and after Sunday Morning Footy.

Finally, it was with sadness that Harps members heard about the passing of Neil Jones in England recently. Sympathies to the Jones and Murphy families on their bereavement.
