Harps Notes 19th November 2018

posted 19 Nov 2018, 03:06 by Derrygonnelly Harps

The Harps Lotto jackpot, now £9600, was not won on Sunday night. The numbers drawn were 17, 20, 25 and 30. £20 each went to The McGullion Family, Boho, Katie Stewart, Garrison, and Ciara Leonard, Monea. We are in The Linnett Inn on Sunday night, with Peter, Gerry and Mary on duty.

What a fantastic game the Ladies Minor League final was on Sunday, especially the second half, as Derrygonnelly Harpettes recovered the deficit, took the lead and had the drama of a late penalty save to see them home for a great win against a very good Kinawley opponent. Congratulations to the girls and their managers on a brilliant effort to round off a fantastic season for the ladies’ section of the Harps. Thank you also to our Minor Ladies’ team sponsor, Fingernails2GO by Bonnie Flanagan.

Our Under 21s had a very good performance in their win against Erne Gaels last Friday night. Our Minors are still preparing for their Ulster Minor Championship match against Crossmaglen on Sunday December 2nd at the grounds of Colaiste Feirste, Falls Road, Belfast.

ASCERT is a charity which provides services that address the impact of alcohol and drugs-related issues in Northern Ireland.  The Health & Wellbeing Committee has arranged an ASCERT Community Awareness Session on Alcohol, Drugs and Energy Drinks in the clubhouse, on Monday 26th November from 7.15-8.30pm. This is aimed at teenagers, parents, carers, teachers, coaches, youth group leaders and anyone who would like to gain more knowledge in these areas. We encourage as many people as possible to come along to this much-needed information session in any area.  Light refreshments will be served.

Please note that our club AGM takes place in the clubrooms on Thursday night November 29th. The meeting looks back through a number of reports, on 2018 whilst also turning to plans for next year and beyond. All members are most welcome to attend. Also, our club Celebration Dinner Dance takes place on Saturday night January 12th. There are also preliminary plans together for our Youth Presentation night in the clubrooms on Sunday night December 9th in the clubrooms. So we have a few busy weeks still ahead, but in a positive sense.
