Harps Notes 19th Feb 2018

The Harps Lotto, now £2100, was not won on Sunday night. The numbers were 5, 11, 13 and 29. £20 each went to three Boho residents: Peter Jones, Michael Jones and Gerard McHugh. We had our second Lotto jackpot winner in a number of weeks last Monday night as Sean Murphy from Kinawley picked up £2100 with numbers 4, 10, 13 and 26. Sean likes our Lotto a lot, having previously bagged a £7000 jackpot in 2014! Congratulations to him. We are back in Doogies this Sunday night, with Donal Corrigan and Gerard Maguire on duty with Mary.

We had a great crowd out on Saturday evening as the club descended on the excellent Killyhevlin Hotel for our Celebration Dinner Dance. The event started on time, with everyone enjoying an excellent meal, before our MC Gavin Duffy led us through a series of presentations, acknowledgements and speeches to and from our victorious 2017 adult teams and managements, plus other successful aspects of last season. With a loop of pics from the season, plus some video clips, it proved to be a very enjoyable section of the evening. Our special guest on the night, Oisin McConville spoke very entertainingly as he gave his perspective on club life and some of his experiences. He came across as funny, yet also authentic. We had plenty of time for dancing this year, and the dancefloor was rarely empty as we had entertainment from Rhythm and Sticks. Home we went, exhausted, but on reflection, hoping we can get back again in the future to enjoy such events. Thank you very much to our organising team, who worked for months to get this event organised and to deliver it on the night. As usual, they did a brilliant job. Special mention to Gavin Duffy, who really does excel in his role and sets us all up for and enjoyable night, and also to Gerald Greene for his fantastic hard line leadership of the Social Committee. Thank you to everyone who made such an effort to attend in great numbers and acknowledge great teams.

Well done to Odhran Harbinson who represented his club, county and province with distinction at Saturday's Scór na nOg All Ireland final in the recitation category. In fairness, all 4 finalists were really excellent, and Odhran narrowly missed out on an All Ireland title, but boy was he a great competitor and a very witty and charismatic performer! Well done to him and huge thanks to his family for all their support and efforts too.

We are hosting a Foundation level coaching course this weekend. The first part of the event on Friday evening is a Child Protection and Safeguarding workshop, with the second part on Saturday morning and early afternoon developing an understanding of coaching principles and ideas. We are very keen that all of our underage coaches from Under 18 right down to Under 6 attend the workshop on the Friday night at 7pm if at all possible as it is a key refresher opportunity for us, and good luck to those who will then be continuing on Saturday. Please contact Eoghan, Peter, or our new Safeguarding Officer Anita to indicate your attendance at the Friday night session.

We have Under 15 training on Thursday at 6.30pm.

We are also hosting Fermanagh Ladies' home NFL tie this Sunday against Carlow at 2pm, a great chance to see this team in action.
