Harps Notes 11th Dec 2017

posted 11 Dec 2017, 03:02 by Derrygonnelly Harps

The Harps Lotto jackpot, now £3300, was not won on Sunday night. The numbers were 3, 7, 15 and 28. £20 each went to Niamh McGovern, Derrygonnelly, plus Jim Higgins and Eamon Leonard, both Monea. We are in Doogie's this Sunday night, with Gerard Maguire, Donal Corrigan and Mary Cox on duty. Please take note that this weekend's draw will be the Christmas bonus draw. The prizes to be drawn will be six fifty pound prizes, plus two fifty pound promoters prizes. So promoters, please mark your envelopes so we can know who the promoter prizewinners are. These prizes will be drawn for whether the jackpot is won or not. We are very grateful for the support the Lotto receives, and the work of those who promote it.

At our AGM last Thursday, we had one significant change in our executive, with Paula Gallagher taking over from Nicola Cassidy as our club secretary. We wish Paula all the best, and thank her for volunteering to take on this role. Nicola is helping out as our assistant secretary, but everyone associated with the club would definitely acknowledge the great job she has done for us all since 2012 and her qualities and talents that were always evident in the way she worked with us. Chairman John is still our mighty ruler, and Ruairi is continuing as our treasurer. We will have a full picture on our committee etc online on the website. There are two positions, namely vice chairperson and chairperson of the social committee, which are still to be filled. Our AGM was obviously a positive one, reflecting on good work done in all of the areas of our club, playing and non playing, but keeping an eye to our future as well. Our capital debt on our physical infrastructure has been significantly reduced now, and we are on target to have it paid off by the end of the 2019 financial year. This is a great achievement on the back of great support from our members, supporters and the wider community. The key point emerging from the meeting is that 2018 can't be a year for the Harps to start easing off anywhere.

On that note, most of our promoters will have rec

Congratulations and good luck for further success to our Scor na nOg representatives, Odhran Harbinson, Oisin Harbinson, Naoise Harbinson, Bronadh Duffy and Derbhla Duffy who having won Fermanagh last week, emerged from the Ulster semi final on Sunday in Swatragh, and have qualified for the Ulster Final in Downpatrick on January 13th. Thank you very much to those who have travelled with them and encouraged them in these events as well.

Harps gear which was ordered a number of weeks ago has arrived and will be available for collection from the clubrooms on Wednesday evening from 7.30 - 9pm and on Saturday from 11.30 to 1pm. Full credit to Kevin Cassidy in particular for a big shift of work here.

Finally, it was with sadness that our members heard of the recent passing of Mrs Patricia Mulvenna, nee McGovern, Belfast, and also Mrs Mary Ellen Maguire, Marlbank during the last week. As well as to immediate family, our condolences go to the McGovern and McGrath families on their bereavement.
