Harps News 9th March 2020

The Harps Lotto jackpot, now £3400, was not won on Sunday night. The numbers drawn were 7, 13, 14 and 27. £20 each went to Pat McGrath, Boho, Una Treacy, Derrygonnelly and Colm Flanagan, Main St Derrygonnelly. We are in Old Pals this Sunday night, with Garry Smyth, Mary and the two Kevins on duty. Thank you to everyone who promotes and supports the Harps Lotto.

The club welcomes our old friends from the Acorn Players in Leitrim back to Derrygonnelly on Friday night March 13th when we host them staging ‘Loophole’, a side splitting comedy in three acts. It is hard to believe that they last visited us in 2015 with ‘The Two Loves of Gabriel Foley’ which was a super show. Reviews of ‘Loophole’ from venues where it has been staged thus far have been that this is one of those ‘not to be missed’ shows! So please come along, and bring a friend, to support this club fundraiser, and have a great night of laughter. The curtain opens at 8.30pm.

Our second team to take to the field this year was our Under 14 group, who played very well in the Fintona tournament on a hardy day last Saturday, losing eventually to Loughmacrory in the Shield semi-final. Thanks very much to the management for giving up their day and well done to the lads on their efforts. Our Under 15s play their first league game this Saturday away to Teemore at 11am. Good luck to them in their matches.

The club is hosting a child safeguarding course on Thursday March 26th, and then the one day foundation coaching course on Saturday March 28th. Anyone looking to do these should contact Peter Jones or Anita Kehoe as soon as possible if they wish to do either course.

Finally, it was with sadness that our membership heard of the passing of Mr Johnny Ferguson in New Zealand recently. We extend our sympathies to Lena and the McGurn family in Main St on their bereavement.
